A National Environmental and engineering services company is seeking a GIS Analyst for its El Paso, Texas office in support of its Cultural Resources Department. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the technical skills in GPS technology and GIS, and how they apply to archaeological investigations. This position will report to the Office Manager and work closely with multiple project managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
This individual will provide technical support to the archaeological staff in GIS, GPS technology, and other related tasks to include the following:
• Assist in the planning and collection of project data
• Provide vector and raster files for field surveys using mobile GPS
• Operate and maintain Trimble GeoExplorer, ProXT, Juno ST, and Garmin 72 GPS devices
• Incorporate field data into multiple project GIS geodatabases utilizing ESRI ArcGIS 9.x
• Produce detailed and project specific maps and images for survey and report production
• Occasional fieldwork in support of data acquisition may be required
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
• B.A in Geospatial Information Systems, Anthropology, or related fields with demonstrated coursework in the both disciplines
• Certified competency with ESRI ArcGIS 9.x or demonstrated coursework as part of B.A. program
• Arcinfo 9.2/9.3 and spacial analysis experience
• Basic understanding of relational databases
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Windows-based computing environment
• Solid understanding of GPS technology and use
• Ability to work both independently and with a team
Additional Skills Desired:
• Completion of archaeological field school
• Experience with ESRI Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst extensions
• Programming skills in NS Basic or Visual Basic
• Familiarity with the Topcon Total Data Stations and Trimble mobile GPS devices

What Lies Beneath? Native American Tribes of the Boise, Idaho Archaeological Record And a Site in the Boise Foothills Tests have confirmed the dates and the fact that the artifacts, found in the Boise foothills near the Table Rock plateau, came from the same source of obsidian as the Squaw/Timber Butte location, east of Payette and North from Boise.
