We’re currently looking for a Cultural Resources Group Leader in our San Diego, CA office.
Responsibilities: Tremendous opportunity for growth as well as ability to work on a variety of complex, interdisciplinary projects in California and other states.
Supervising field monitors and field crews, prepare monitoring reports and cultural resource technical reports, prepare EIR/EA/EIS sections and independent technical reports, coordinate with clients and sub consultants. Knowledge and experience with the National Environmental Policy Act, the California Environmental Quality Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and federal, state, and local agencies environmental review processes and requirements.
Help group and division managers to develop and market a cultural resources group for URS. Get involved with construction projects and permitting for private and public projects including Caltrans, Bureau of Land Management, California Energy Commission, and others as required.
Requirements: Bachelor of Arts degree with Register of Professional Archaeologists' (RPA) certification or equivalent. Knowledgeable in prehistoric North American archaeology and California archaeology. Southern California experience and Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification. Must be able to be certified by state and federal agencies and southern California counties as a Principal Investigator. Minimum 15 years work experience in related field (with 3 years of experience in southern CA and 2 years in county where you are pursuing certification.)
Ability to perform quick turn-around scopes and costs for projects for the purposes of marketing. Manage a staff of archaeologists, architectural historians, and paleontologists, and as-needed field technicians to successfully complete fieldwork.
Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills are required. Applicants should be highly self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and perform detail-oriented work. Must possess excellent working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point. Writing sample required with submission of application that reflects the requirements of the position (e.g, technical report, DPR forms, other related documents).

What Lies Beneath? Native American Tribes of the Boise, Idaho Archaeological Record And a Site in the Boise Foothills Tests have confirmed the dates and the fact that the artifacts, found in the Boise foothills near the Table Rock plateau, came from the same source of obsidian as the Squaw/Timber Butte location, east of Payette and North from Boise. This Squaw/Timber Butte location is known as a major prehistoric source of obsidian glass in eastern Idaho prehistory. ( A re-cap of the original report and research below.)
